Welcome to Nourish 911! My name is Madelyn and I am looking forward to getting to meet your family! I have a B.S in Nutrition and Dietetics from NDSU (Go Bison!) and have worked in EMS for over 8 years. I am a mom of two feral boys and live in Minnesota. I grew up in SE Wisconsin and my mom always preached about the importance of breastfeeding. If I am being honest, I ignored her for a while until I had my first child. I struggled with my pregnancy, breastfeeding initiation, and the postpartum period. When I returned to work, pumping on the ambulance was not an easy experience, and my 3 month old was at home crying because he thought bottles were trying to kill him. I became VERY familiar with MN pumping statutes and helped others advocate for themselves in the workplace. My baby learned how to take a bottle with minimal protest, and has now moved on to protesting other toddler things like bedtime. Strong willed toddler parents unite!

I obtained my Certified Lactation Counselor certificate and started helping those close to me with their breastfeeding struggles. I loved watching them succeed and reaching their goals. I enjoyed helping my family and friends so much that when I was pregnant with my second child, I decided to take my education a step further and enroll in an IBCLC Pathway 2 program. I obtained my IBCLC in the spring of 2025 and have been supporting families in this capacity ever since. I strongly believe that EVERYONE should have access to care and education for their families.

I recently began working with the Minnesota Department of Health to advocate for lactation reimbursement for Medicaid patients. I am part of a committee that will hopefully one day create access for these families.

I currently contract as a perinatal mental health coach with a company called FamilyWell and am working towards my PMH-C. Recognizing how perinatal and postpartum mental health effects breastfeeding is an important part of caring for a dyad and I bring these practices into my every day care.

Nourish 911 was created to help guide parents in their feeding goals, but also to help educate and support parents so they can have a stronger bond with their partner, their baby, and their family. You are not alone in this journey!
